Giants lose to Green Bay
Apparently my call for the defense not to suck fell on deaf ears because they sucked again. The Packers scored touchdowns on 4 out of 5 possessions. It’s true that the offense and special teams put the defense in a couple of bad spots, but there’s still no excuse.
The defense could help us win the turnover battle if they weren’t so busy giving up embarassing plays. Obviously the offense is going to turn it over once in a while – I’m not really sure we can blame them for each and every turnover.
Not that the offense was great fun to watch either with all the penalties. Shockey and Toomer got especially bad penalties called on them (though Shockey’s should still have been a first and Toomer’s I’m not so sure about). Speaking of receivers, Steve Smith is hurt and will miss some time.

So I suppose I’m not the only one who expects us to play equal to the Raiders of last season. I forsee a doldrum of continual losing seasons for yrs to come at this rate. Like the Buc’s or Lions of seasons gone bye. Firing Coach Coughlin is a dismall solution, a way of appeasing fans. What does it really solve? Blaming Tiki’s retirement on our play is for sour whiners. He doesn’t play on the defensive side of the ball!!! Injuries are plaguing us like something of Biblical proportions. It could just be that the teams offense is inconsistent and defense sucks so we notice the losses of players in a magnified way. Hey I admire Lorenzen for giving it a try but he isnt who I want as a second string QB. Hell give us Jeff George(lol) Someone who has actually had a few starts…Testaverde even….even if he can begin collecting social security. All the ranting aside I don’t suppose I should be to disgusted about the Giants play as of late. It seems all the prognosticators forecast the G-Men to have fewer than 8 wins. I mean I could be a Chargers or Saints fan and really be scratching my head. I’m just glad I have work and college ball I think the NFL Season for NY will straight out suck.
Anyone who wants to disagree please feel free.

whats with the newly revised Giants homepage….I hate it. There are no pages to navigate like the previous one. I guess all about the G-Men are gonna be uncomfortable this season.

You hit the nail on the head, our ddefense is really bad. Week #1 45 points, week #2 35 points. Even a good offense would have trouble overcoming that kind of incompetence.
I love the G-men but I think the season is going to be long and hard. I think Couglin may be gone by mid-year and look for Gilbride to be the interim.

A few more questions: Why do we have Sinorice Moss on the roster if he doesn’t take the field? I don’t care how good or who his brother is if he aint on the field the he aint helping. So should we seek a trade for a defensive player. I think we should have tried to get Trotter and Rice when they got wiaved…anyone else?
I am in the US Army and am a NY Giants fan; So which will happen first Soldiers will leave Iraq behind or the G-Men get to another Superbowl. I don’t forsee either happening for sometime to come though.

The Giants were in both games at the half. In the second half the defense went to sleep and gave up 56 points in the two games. Its obvious that the Dallas and Green Bay coaching staffs made the halftime adjustments necessary to out play the giants d. Perhaps we are looking for blame in the wrong place. Perhaps its the coaching staff that is not making the proper halftime adjustments to make the team competitive. Anyone feel the same?

It just feels so good to sAy….I waited as long as possible. I gave the Tiki excuse, I gave the coordinator excuse, but now I’m out of excuses. Jerry Reese still has something to prove (like why he would release our only safety that can tackle, or give away an NFL runningback), but we need to give him a chance.
This is not about talent. It’s about Tom. It’s about using your players for what they’re good at, and getting them to play hard. And so far, everyone seems constantly out of position and no one gives a shit. I can handle a defense that has a bad game (see packers, the dallas game is inexcuseable week 1), but the key to defense is controlling the line and playing aggressive, and it’s not about technique, it’s about desire. Our defense hates Coughlin, they won’t play for him and it’s obviouis. And I just can’t watch it anymore.
