Chase Blackburn ready to replace Antonio Pierce?
I don’t want to run Pierce out of New York or anything but with his injuries we can see that he is slowing down this season. Next year I hope he’s bigger and faster and whatever but I think the Giants have to wonder if that’s realistic.
If Pierce is nearing the end of his career how happy are we with Chase Blackburn at MLB? On the first play of the game he tackled Frank Gore behind the line of scrimmage and had 10 stops total. Stats aren’t everything but he was all over the field and he did have that forced fumble.
I don’t think we can say from one game, but I’ve always been a Chase Blackburn fan. I just appreciate guys that get results because they play hard and work hard even if they don’t have the athletic tools some guys in the NFL have.
So how badly do the Giants need a new MLB? Is Blackburn the long term answer? Will Pierce be here for a while longer?

i believe that the more Chase is able to learn from Pierce the better. The game against the Browns shows that he still has a lot to learn regarding the direction he has to provide on the field for the defence. I dont know…i thinks it is kind of hard to say that Antonio may be winding down especially after a superbowl performance like the one he put on. Yes he has had some injuries that may indicate otherwise but he also brings a leadership quality that i believe is unmatched on the Giants defence. Even if he did loose a step (and I am not saying he did)the leadership role and how his qualities has that Giants team playing and eating and sleeping like a team then i dont believe he will go anywhere soon. “HE HAS LIKE 3 MORE PRODUCTIVE YEARS LEFT BEFORE WE SAY YES WE NEED TO CHANGE THE MLB”
Sincerly,
Leave AP alone!!!!

I like Chase Blackburn a lot. But his previous injury issues worry me about him starting as the MLB.
But you gotta love his motor. At some point (soon) I think the Giants have to look to shoring up their LB corps. They’ve been running on retreads and temp guys for awhile now (with the exception of Pierce) and it eventually has to bite them in the ass.
P.S. – I think Pierce has 2 more years left on his contract and I don’t see the Giants getting rid of him before then. I don’t think he’ll be here after that though.
