Giants hurting – another injury-plagued season?

      Saturday, August 28th, 2010

This article talks about the seriousness of the Giants current injury situation. Like in many past seasons, Giants fans are left wondering why it’s so hard for Big Blue to field a healthy team.

It showed on the field against the Ravens (who were very pass-happy for some reason) as our “starters” (whoever they are) looked terrible as a unit. Individually there were some nice performances – Corey Webster for example looked very good at CB and the defensive line played well.

On offense, the receivers seemed to get some separation but Manning couldn’t seem to get the ball where it needed to be. Is this an issue of not enough practice reps? Brandon Jacobs looked good the few times he ran. Shawn Andrews was a bright spot on the offensive line – considering how long he has been away from football I was pleasantly surprised.

Giants beat Jets at the first game in new stadium

      Friday, August 20th, 2010

I guess I’ll be calling it Giants stadium. I just don’t like the Jets when their head coach say he isn’t going to game plan and then does with some serious blitz packages.

The Giants offensive line managed well enough against the blitz considering who we were missing (playing we had William Beatty at LT, David Diehl inside at LG, Shaun O’Hara at C, Guy Whimper at RG and Kareem McKenzie at RT). Still the running game was stuffed by the Jets defense. The Giants 1st team offense overall looked weak.

There was one bright spot on offense. WR Victor Cruz was targeted 7 times and caught 6 passes for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns. Can a rookie free agent make the Giants roster at a relatively deep position (deep in the sense that there are proven guys and high draft pick guys who have [proved nothing like Sinorice Moss)? He did get a chance to return one punt and if he shows something there (which he hasn’t yet) there has to be a chance.

Well that and the fullbacks seemed to play well (though it won’t do any good without better run blocking from the offensive line).

      Get well Chad

      Saturday, June 26th, 2010

I’m not going to try to keep up with this story – there are already a million tweets and articles and blogs and whatnot about Chad Jones and his car accident in New Orleans. Just gotta hope he recovers – it’s serious.

      Thank you Jeff Feagles!

      Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Jeff Feagles, one of the greatest directional punters of all time and Super Bowl champion, is going to retire. 21 years, 2 pro bowls, a Super Bowl ring, 5 NFL records, and of course a Super Bowl with the Giants. And in addition to the punting, Feagles was an awesome holder on field goal attempts.

      Brandon Crawford: the Giants Papale?

      Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Interesting story here on Brandon Crawford. I can’t help but think of the Invincible Mark Wahlberg movie. Good luck!

Mock draft from Emmitt Smith designed to entertain

      Saturday, April 17th, 2010

Some funny lines in this mock draft that mocks Giant-killer Emmitt Smith:

Oakland Raiders: Bruce Campbells, OT, Maryland
Before I depart on my journey back across the Oakland line, Al Davids tolded me who he was going to pick in the mark draft. He said Bruce Campbells is a “great player.” When I ask why, he showed me lots of number. I am not good with number, so I do not understand this worksheet, but Al Davids reassurded me that Bruce Campbell can run faster than any offensive lineman in the history of the National Conference of Footballs. And that, my friend, is a history that have longness and bigness!

Miami Dolphins: Jean Pierre-Paul, DE/OLB, South Florida
I normally do not like putting defensive player in my mark draft. As my friend Michael Irving always say, “Defense do not wins championships. Point wins championships.”

But Bill Parcell have different view from you, I and other guy. Parcell, nickname the Big Fish, really like taking linebackers in the first round of mark drafts. He love taking linebackers. In fact, you can say that he love it so much that he want to have sexual relation with taking linebackers in the first round.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Sam Bradley, QB, Oklahoma State
If Big Ben have another sexual insultment on top of these two, there is a chance he will go to jail for a very, very long time. In our society, the rule go, “Three strikes and you have or has a strike out.” Big Ben one strike remove from havin’ a striked out, which is not positive thinging! The Steelers need to draft a quarterback just in case Big Ben go to jail where he will be sexual insultmented from the behind.

      Welcome Deon Grant

      Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Safet is looking better and better as the Giants first added Antrel Rolle and now Deon Grant.

Grant is a 9 year vet nine seasons, who has started 144 straight regular-season games and seven post-season games. He has never missed a game.

He’s been around a while but he can still play apparently: In 2009, Grant had 78 tackles (60 solo), three interceptions, seven passes defensed and a forced fumble for the Seahawks.

      Jeff Feagles signs with Giants

      Thursday, April 1st, 2010

No contract details available yet so we don’t know if he’s getting any money guaranteed or if there really will be a competition for the punter spot.

Interesting mock draft from Pat Kirwan

      Sunday, March 21st, 2010

I haven’t really been keeping up with the mock drafts but this one is sparking a bit of controversy because of this pick:

      15. New York Giants
      Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri
The Giants need linebacker help and Weatherspoon is a guy with nearly 400 tackles in college who runs 4.6 in the 40. He can call a defense and play middle or weakside linebacker. (Previous pick: Sergio Kindle)

I know some people who say Weatherspoon is too small to play MLB. Personally I still remember Jonathan Vilma going to the Jets and winning rookie of the year at MLB. I think he was 230 pounds. Weatherspoon is listed at 6′1″ and 240 lbs. That may be high but still seems funny to say he’s too small.

      Giants players’ performance based pay

      Friday, March 12th, 2010

Short article here on Giants players’ performance based pay. It has nothing to do with how well you perform though – just how much playing time you get compared to how little money you make.

      Bruce Johnson, $270,766

This CB saw lots of playing time due to injuries and since he was a 7th round pick had a low salary.

      Michael Johnson, $235,445

We didn’t like watching him on the field most of the time but he was out there a lot thanks to injuries and no depth at safety.

      Kevin Boss, $221,100

Turning out to be a very solid TE and a great value for a 4th round pick.

      Terrell Thomas, $207,125

      Another CB.

      Aaron Rouse, $193,598.

A safety (now released) who saw a bunch of playing time even though the Giants signed him well into the season.
