Ouch! Giants lose third in a row, mauled by Eagles

      Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Another poor defensive game and more bad play from the QB position. The 2 things I can’t stand.

Why we can’t have consistently good play from our Super Bowl winning franchise QB who takes up a huge chunk of cap space is beyond me.

I do understand that we have no speed at linebacker cause Boley is out and no talent at safety cause Phillips is out. But I don’t understand why our defensive lineman get plain beat at the line of scrimmage or why we have trouble tackling…

Frustrating 3 games for Giants fans, that’s for sure.

The Giants need to pick it up a notch or two

      Thursday, October 29th, 2009

This article has a very optimistic headline: NY Giants coach Tom Coughlin anticipates another close, exciting game against Philadelphia Eagles

I just hope the Giants we think we have show up. Not the Giants we’ve seen the past 2 weeks.

      A bit of Redskins drama

      Friday, October 9th, 2009

Hopefully we beat the Raiders like we should and avoid any Giants drama so here is some nice Redskins drama for you: John Riggins talking about his former “Washington NFL franchise” and their new consultant, Sherm Lewis.

Gotta love the Dallas fans hating Romo

      Monday, October 5th, 2009

I could never feel bad for a Cowboys fan because I still remember all the Cowboys jackets in my New York and New Jersey schools in the 90s. America’s team my ass!

Anyway, this is funny. It seems like many Cowboys fans believe it (who knows it could be) – Romo didn’t know what down it was at a critical point in the game.

      Flozell Adams deserved worse

      Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Here’s a follow-up on that dirty scumbag named Flozell Adams. Maybe it’s Gary Myers being a homer as a Giants beat writer, but I like to think that most everyone is in agreement here – the 12,500 dollar fine was not nearly punishment enough for tearing Tuck’s labrum on a dirty play.

Cowboys fans reaction to losing to the Giants

Fun reading here. Romo under fire. Defense under fire. Gotta love posts like:

Kitna blows…Romo is horrendous…say hello to a long freaking year. Don’t start the Kitna crap though…that’s why Jerry picked him up….he knows it keeps us fans at bay and no QB controversy.

And this is NOT an endorsement for Romo. He sucks too.

I say do it all now…lose Wade…hire Shannahan, make Garret the QB coach and promote someone with a fire in their belly to be Def. Cor. And keep ion mind, we MIGHT get in on a wild card…no way we win this division.

Pretty ugly (and exciting) Giants game vs. the Cowboys with some good signs

      Sunday, September 20th, 2009

      Very exciting win!

To me the best sign is that the Giants wide receivers are plenty skilled. Smith and Manningham rock.We know from last year that Hixon can play and I think it’s just a matter of time until he comes up big this season. Let’s hope he’s OK along with Tuck and the other injured Giants. Anyway, that’s 3 good young receivers.

In the first half, I only half agree with the announcers who said we got dominated. The Dallas lines were beating our lines but in terms of yardage the Cowboys weren’t really dominant (plus they had one more possession than the Giants in the first half). I think the big problem for them was turnovers and for us it was crappy play in the red zone. Did our lines get pushed around? Sure. Did the Giants get dominated? Didn’t seem that way to me. I’m not saying we played well – we especially sucked in the red zone. And I’m not saying we didn’t get lucky on the scoreboard – we did.

One thing that certainly hurt our defense was Flozell Adams. Not with superior play but with a trip that injured Justin Tuck. In the second half he almost tripped up Osi. Flozell Adams, you are a dirty player. Beware of karma.

Things looked good starting the second half. We had some big runs. Manningham had a nice catch and run. Then we got to the red zone where we went back to looking like crap, especially when Tynes missed a 29 yard field goal attempt. The defense got us the ball back and looked pretty good in the process despite giving up some rushing yards.

The Giants second drive was depressing until a Cowboys penalty gave them a first down on 3rd and 8. That penalty was there but was kind of a nitpicky call. More luck perhaps for the Giants. Then a pass interference call gave us 30+ yards. We couldn’t pick up a 1st down on our own and had to punt. The Cowboys looked like they were starting to dominate – quick TD, got the ball back, driving again, then Romo throws a bad interception (his third of the game) to Kenny Phillips.

Then the game got exciting – huge bomb to Manningham and eventually a Steve Smith TD catch where he left his cover guy on his ass with a sweet route. Then at the end of the game we’ve got Dallas 31 (having just scored a TD running easily against the Giants after a clutch 3rd down catch from Witten) and the Giants 30. 3:40 left on the clock and the Giants need points.

The officials had a couple of pretty weak calls on the Giants first play of that drive so it was 1st and 20. After a few nerve-wracking passes, the Giants got the 1st. Thank you Steve Smith. The Giants were in hurry up at this point obviously – less than 2 minutes to go in the 4th. With 40 seconds left the Cowboys had to take a time out. It was 3rd and 4 for the Giants. The giants convert, go a few more yards, set up a 37 yard field goal attempt. Tynes makes it twice (last second timeout from the Cowboys staved off their defeat by about a minute). Giants win an intense game that was sloppy at times but damn exciting!

      Canty not playing against Cowboys

      Friday, September 18th, 2009

According to Ralph V and the Blue Screen, Canty won’t be playing against the Cowboys. He may miss more time. Amazing how quickly a strong position gets thin (now that we’ve lost Alford and Canty needs to miss at least one game).

More on the Giants win over the Redskins week 1

      Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Ralph V has a mostly accurate review of the Giants win over the Redskins. Just two little things to nitpick – Eli’s interception was not a terrible throw – the other team just made a play. Second, while Tuck was awesome, Corey Webster was the Giants best player Sunday.

He was right to charge the officials with two ludicrous non-calls. He was totally right to credit London Fletcher. That dude was insanely good.

Giants defeat Redskins in season opener

      Sunday, September 13th, 2009

This was nice. The Redskins defense, which should be very good this season, didn’t give our offense too much trouble. Seubert, man I really want a jersey with this dude’s name on it, did nice work against Albert Haynesworth. We couldn’t run up the middle but that’s OK – We knew they would be gunning to stop the run. We had some nice plays there and they couldn’t make us give up the on the run.

Eli saw some pressure but mostly when the Redskins had extra rushers. Passing game looked real solid. It looks like Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, and Domenik Hixon will be good enough. Eli put up nice numbers: 20-29, 256 Yds, 1 TD, 1 Int. Keep in mind the 1 interception was a great play by Landry too.

Our defense looked great. Washington scored TDs on a fake field goal and then on a real play when the game was almost over. Osi seems to be coming back huge. Our depleted secondary was fine. Corey Webster = great: shut down Moss and kicked his butt. Coughlin gave Bruce Johnson some deserved props.

There were of course a couple of bad moments – the Ware elbow injury and the Nicks foot injury. Nicks is expected to miss 2-3 weeks (but they haven’t done an MRI yet so no one knows for sure).

Ware was our primary kickoff returner. Nicks replaced him. We could be getting a little thin there…
