Are the Giants back? Big Blue crushes Redskins 45-12

      Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

I am pleasantly surprised. Or shocked and elated. The Giants look like a good football team again – on both sides of the ball – in the same game!

The Redskins offense had been coming alive the past few weeks but the Giants defense suddenly figured out what they need to do.

Manning was accurate, we had room to run, and the offense didn’t kill the team with turnovers.

All in all it was a beautiful day. Can we expect more of the same? Can the Giants win out? Can they get the help they need and end up with a wild card berth? Can they bring a competent defense and offense into the playoffs?

Giants in a near desperate position for tonight’s game against the Redskins

      Monday, December 21st, 2009

“Giants in a near desperate position for tonight’s game against the Redskins” is a quote that raises some doubts. The Giants should have been desperate a long time ago if they wanted to make the playoffs. Sure they could win out and get in if the right things happen. I understand that losing to Washington wouldn’t even be mathematically eliminating.

Speaking of strange quotes, Coughlin says: “We have enough motivation right here. We have all the motivation we need. We have had it that way for quite some time. Look at a graph of our season. We have to realize that there are an awful lot of things that these players, if they just stopped and thought about it, have to be proud of.”

You’re telling me the Giants defense has been motivated for a while? And they have something to be proud of? They were #28 – let’s see if they make us proud in Washington and move up a few ranks…

Because right now, if defense wins playoff games the talk about desperation and motivation is all moot.

A look at some individual performances from Giants vs. Cowboys

      Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Mike Garafolo analyzes the play (and coaching) of a bunch of Giants and a few Cowboys. I can’t help but agree with the criticism of Manning. Sometimes he plays lights out but considering the percentage of the cap he takes up, it should be pretty much every game. Like the playoff stretch leading up the Super Bowl win when he played awesome all the time.

Time for the NFL to teach Flozell Adams a lesson

Someone has to stop this bush league scum bucket before he ends a career. This article discusses the possibility of a suspension.

Gotta love a Giants win and Jacobs’ attitude

      Sunday, December 6th, 2009

“It’s extra special against Dallas. That’s absolutely a team I can’t stand. I’ve been hating Dallas ever since I knew anything about football.”

A win is extra special against Dallas. And the Giants season may not be over just yet – although it is hard not to get my hopes up after a sweet win, the Giants defense is still not looking so hot (the fumble recovery/return by Osi helped but can we can’t stop the pass). At least the defensive line is looking better.

Let’s hope Chris Snee is OK – knee injuries are pretty scary…

Ouch! Giants lose third in a row, mauled by Eagles

      Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Another poor defensive game and more bad play from the QB position. The 2 things I can’t stand.

Why we can’t have consistently good play from our Super Bowl winning franchise QB who takes up a huge chunk of cap space is beyond me.

I do understand that we have no speed at linebacker cause Boley is out and no talent at safety cause Phillips is out. But I don’t understand why our defensive lineman get plain beat at the line of scrimmage or why we have trouble tackling…

Frustrating 3 games for Giants fans, that’s for sure.

The Giants need to pick it up a notch or two

      Thursday, October 29th, 2009

This article has a very optimistic headline: NY Giants coach Tom Coughlin anticipates another close, exciting game against Philadelphia Eagles

I just hope the Giants we think we have show up. Not the Giants we’ve seen the past 2 weeks.

      A bit of Redskins drama

      Friday, October 9th, 2009

Hopefully we beat the Raiders like we should and avoid any Giants drama so here is some nice Redskins drama for you: John Riggins talking about his former “Washington NFL franchise” and their new consultant, Sherm Lewis.

“I’m not sure this is the way to run a big-time professional franchise…”

Gotta love the Dallas fans hating Romo

      Monday, October 5th, 2009

I could never feel bad for a Cowboys fan because I still remember all the Cowboys jackets in my New York and New Jersey schools in the 90s. America’s team my ass!

Anyway, this is funny. It seems like many Cowboys fans believe it (who knows it could be) – Romo didn’t know what down it was at a critical point in the game.

      Flozell Adams deserved worse

      Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Here’s a follow-up on that dirty scumbag named Flozell Adams. Maybe it’s Gary Myers being a homer as a Giants beat writer, but I like to think that most everyone is in agreement here – the 12,500 dollar fine was not nearly punishment enough for tearing Tuck’s labrum on a dirty play.
