Have you lost faith in Giants defensive coordinator, Bill Sheridan?

      Friday, November 6th, 2009

With the return of Osi to the Giants defensive line (not counting the addition of Canty or Boley for obvious reasons) the Giants defense was supposed to get better. The only question mark was the new defensive coordinator.

This Mike Garafolo article doesn’t come out and say Sheridan sucks but it does present a pretty big problem when Sheridan says he didn’t know there was a communication problem on the Giants defense. Like Mike G. says, you see the Giants players looking around confused as fullbacks rip them for big gains and receivers run around uncovered…

A few interesting quotes from Reese

      Friday, October 30th, 2009

What I think is most interesting is that he acknowledges Eli Manning’s bad performance: “He didn’t play his best game this past weekend or the past couple of weekends,” Reese said.

But he says CC Brown is doing real well: “It sounds like everybody’s giving C.C. Brown a hard time. He’s come in and really done an admirable job for us.”

Perhaps we fans who criticized Brown may need to reconsider since Reese surely knows more than we do. But I guess we can keep citicizing Manning until he picks up his game.

      Bill Sheridan talks Gaints defense

      Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Here’s the transcript. Here’s the video. I like the comments a lot. Talks about Sintim at SAM, Kiwi staying at end, that the giants defense wont change much, etc.

No more wedge = changes in the Giants return game

      Sunday, March 29th, 2009

According to the Boston Globe, the Giants will be one of the teams most affected by the new wedge rule (there is no more wedge – at least not the way we used to see it).

Remeber Manning to Toomer on 4th and 6?

      Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

      We miss Amani Toomer already:

Think back to week 8 vs. the Steelers. Greg Cosell breaks down Eli Manning’s gutsy 30-yard pass to Amani Toomer on 4th and 6.

Plus it’s nice to remember some of Eli’s clutch plays. Maybe we can forget about his performance in the Eagles playoff game.

      A lot of coaching changes

      Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Bill Sheridan, the Giants linebackers coach, was promoted to defensive coordinator. The Giants hired Jim Herrmann, formerly the Jets linebackers coach, to be their new linebackers coach.

Sheridan and Herrman do have some history. Herrmann was defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan for nine years, where Sheridan served under him as the linebackers coach (2002) and the defensive line coach (2003-2004).

Time to change things up on Offense

      Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Newsday says Jacobs should play but what will really effect the Giants offense is the state of the offensive line. The New York Times notes that both the offensive line and Kevin Gilbride promise a change. I hesitate to criticize Gilbride too much but I think we need some pretty obvious adjustments, ones that could have been made in the Cowboys game as it became clear things weren’t working according to plan.

We need faster developing pass plays, the so called “dink and dunk” offense. We also need to do a better job of disguising the offense. How many times did we see Ward line up 8 yards behind Manning, a typical running formation.? Seemed like we always ran and Dallas always knew it was coming.

Sports Network points out that Carolina seems to be the team with momentum at the moment. Their running game has come up big in the past two weeks while the Giants running game has not. We’ll have to change that if we want to win.

      Good Coughlin quotes

      Friday, November 21st, 2008

This article has a lot of quotes from Tom Coughlin that make it even easier to root for the Giants and their coach. I mean as Giants fans we’d be rooting anyway, but this is the kind of team and the kind of coach that can make a fan proud.
