Giants the team to beat

This article out of Dallas tells us that despite Dallas having a great offseason (even TO is happy and pacman hasn't been arrested yet) the Giants are still the team to beat in the NFC East based on what they accomplished last year. The author goes on to explain that the Giants are actually in good shape despite some apparent problems.

Budweiser and Bud Light and new stadium

Here's an article about Bud and Bud Light's relationship with the Giants and the Jets. Bud is going to have a big presence at the new stadium.

NFL questions

This is not a Giants article but several Giants get a mention. We hear about Burress. We hears about Strahan and Barber:

12. Is Michael Strahan really retired?

Yes. And unlike "Today Show" roaming reporter Tiki Barber, whose No. 21 will be worn by rookie Kenny Phillips in '08, Strahan's No. 92 will never be worn by another Giant. Also unlike Tiki, he goes out as a winner. And also unlike Tiki (just one more), people in New York City actually care which network Strahan ends up at.

I like that one.

Also predicts Giants-Colts for Super Bowl XLIII.

Simms on Shockey

This article has a few interesting quotes from Phil Simms on the Giants and Shockey situation. He understand the frustration of watching a team move on without you and win a Super Bowl without you. He also had this to say: "My old coach, Bill Parcells, once said, 'I'm not in the habit of getting rid of good football players.' And Coughlin reminds me more of Parcells than any other current coach."

I guess he thinks we should hang on to Shockey.

Agent for Plax and Shockey speaks but says nothing

The Blue Screen reports on Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for both Plaxico Burress and Jermey Shockey. Seems like the dude is a politician in training the way he avoids almost every question...

No wonder it's hard to repeat in today's NFL

Strahan retired. Daily News blog here.

Burress is unhappy: "Me and my agent have been trying to get a deal done, so I can (be) a New York Giant for a long time," said Burress. "I personally don’t like the way its going. I’m not happy about it and I’m going to choose not to participate." New York Times article here.

Shockey is unhappy: According to someone familiar with the latest developments in the Shockey situation, the four-time Pro Bowl tight end continues to insist he will sit out training camp and perhaps the upcoming season if he doesn't get one of two things: fewer blocking assignments or a trade. Star Ledger article here.

ESPN overview of the problems here.

Lorenzo Neal article

This article on Lorenzo Neal is quite interesting. A few years ago, many Giants fans would have killed to replace Jim Finn with Neal. Now I'm not so sure...

I bet Neal can still play, but the Giants running game seems to working quite well for now.

Giants OTA news: Toomer

Apparently Toomer has been impressing some people at recent Giants' practices. He is reportedly making awesome catches and looking to improve on last year.
