The big news in Giants country is Shockey and Burress not practicing with Manning at the voluntary workouts. I don't really care for the drama that happens every year. Manning seems to be tired of the drama as well.
More interesting is what's going on with left tackle - Diehl and Whimper don't know who's playing where yet.
Of course Jacobs is also getting his share of attention. I also think he'll put up big numbers.
Posted by James Trotta at June 2, 2007 2:23 AMAfter everything we gave to San Diego to get Eli, I wonder if they'd consider trading Antonio Gates, for Jeremy Shockey. And while we're at it, maybe we can get a receiver, in exchange for plax, out there somewhere too. This is after all supposed to be about being a TEAM. If you don't show up to work with the team, don't be suprised when you don't get the ball.
Posted by: Michael at June 2, 2007 11:02 AMIf Jacobs does what we all think he can he will be in a lot of highlight films. I love his "steamroller" mentality. You can just see the defensive backs wince when he heads their way.
Plaxico and Shockey have probably underestimated the reaction from their absence from the optional practices. But hey, there is a silver lining in every cloud. Now Moss and Smith can get better acquainted with Eli, who could make a statement in the preseason by conveniently not seeing Plaxico and Shockey when they are open and send his own message. Eli might just do it too. It would go a long way towards showing the team that he is not totally passive.
Posted by: tom cuddy at June 2, 2007 9:04 PMMichael I doubt San Diego would make that trade...I wouldn't if I were them.
This situation with Shockey and Plaxico is frustrating but trading both of them would be overreacting.
As I suggested in my earlier post maybe Eli should show them that not only are these workouts optional but throwing to them is too.
