This article talks about Mike Berg. He's the only fullback the Giants have invited to camp other than Jim Finn.
The Giants search for a fullback should include more than a Harvard DT, and many fans are wondering why all the UDFA fullbacks are signing with other teams. At least the Giants are going to look at a couple of other guys, Jonathan Evans and James Hodgins.
Why is fullback suddenly such a big deal for the Giants? The offensive line and defensive backfield seems to be where our greatest emphasis should be. Maybe I haven't watched closely enough the last couple of years but to me Finn seems to have done a reasonably good job, especially considering how little the Giants game plan has included him.
It seems to me that we are going into this season with a very one dimensional approach to our running game and no matter how big and tough our backs are they still can be stopped if we are running all our plays off tackle.
Personally while I think taking a receiver in the 2nd round was a good thing, I'm of the opinion that if they feel fullback is a position in which they need to improve, I would have liked to see them have taken Brian Leonard, who went with the very next pick. They guy could play at either full back or half back, and has great hands. If the Giants were worried about Finn, I think that would have been the way to go
