Giants 2006 draft 1st round choice:

If it were me the pick would have been Jimmy Williams or the trade down. Frankly, I think it is awesome that the Giants were able to trade down. Just awesome.

I figure the Giants would want to come out of this draft with 2 defensive tackles, 1 or more corners, 1 linebacker, and 1 wide receiver. Now they can get 4 of those on day 1 and 2 more in round 4 (near or at the end)!

So what happens to my excitement? The Giants take Mathias Kiwanuka. No Jimmy Williams, no linebacker, no defensive tackle, no Chad Jackson or Moss. Very puzzling.

Crazy draft - I need a rest.

James-
Calm buddy. Don't lose your faith in EA that quickly. Kiwanuka is not a DE. He IS a linebacker. He's Arrington's backup, and if he develops the inital burst to be a consistent end, great, but he's basically a huge stuational WILL with more upside than anyone on the board at that time. The consistent production and health is a nice additon. With Moss in the 2nd round(fantastic pick), we're in great shape to get a LT, DT, and DB before the fifth round. I love Accorsi.

Strahan's been around 13 years, could be they know something we don't, yes he had a great year last year, made the pro bowl, but... how many does he have left? Like I said, maybe EA knows something about Strahan's intentions we don't.

Thanks for the comments. I am somewhat calm. I'm actually really curious to see how the Giants get all 4 of their defensive ends on the field in passing situations!

What in EA's track record gets you excited about his first round choices. One pro-bowler (Shockey) and a QB that can't throw a spiral. Everyone else has been mediocre at best. He seems to have a knack for round two.
