5.5 million dollars?

The New York Post is reporting that the Giants are one of the worst off teams in the NFL - we are 5.5 million under the 2005 cap. I hope they are wrong, because 5.5 million isn't going to do much in free agency.

How do they figure those numbers? I did a quick calculation based on NFLPA numbers for 2005 and only came up with about 56 million in salary...with the cap at 85 million, I must be missing something huge. My calculation doesn't include bonus'...maybe that is the problem?

i believe, you need to amortize signing bonuses over the life of the contract. so if someone gets $10 million signing bonus for a 10 year contract then in year 1 you should calculate another $1 million ($10m/10 year)on top of his annunal salary.

Does anyone know where we can find the signing bonus data?
