The Giants are in serious trouble. The offense proved inept against a good Bears defense. Now the Giants defense is in trouble.
Michael Strahan and Keith Washington are out for the year. Bromell is on PUP. He will be put on IR or activated soon. We still have Osi, but it looks like Lance Legree will be starting for Strahan, if Bromell isn't 100%.
The lack of depth now is alarming. There won't be much of a rotation at the DE spots, and if the offense can't sustain drives, teams will certainly be taking advantage of the Giants tired ends in the third and fourth quarters.
Call it mastering the obvious, but Tom Canavan writes that this hurts the Giants playoff chances. I agree. I wonder if the Giants would be better off finding a DE on a practice squad somewhere, signing him to the active roster, and making him part of the rotation. It was clear at the beginning of the season that the Giants don't have enough yout at the DE position. This is a chance to get a needed body on the field and prepare for the future.
