No real surprises as the Giants trimmed their roster to 75. In a few days when they go down to 53 there will be some tough decisions, complicated by the injury situation. Added to the PUP list were Chris Canty (whoi we’re all worried about) and Travis Beckum (who one expects anything from).
But let’s talk about injury bconcerns – notice all the big name players on defense who missed practice yesterday:
TE Travis Beckum (knee – PUP)
OG Chris Snee (leg)
OT James Brewer (unknown)
DE Justin Tuck (shoulder)
DE Jason Pierre-Paul (back)
DE Osi Umenyiora (knee)
DE Adrian Tracy (hamstring)
DT Chris Canty (knee – PUP)
DT Shaun Rogers (blood clot)
DT Marvin Austin (back)
LB Michael Boley (hamstring)
LB Mathias Kiwanuka (groin)
CB Prince Amukamara (ankle)
CB Terrell Thomas (knee)
CB Jayron Hosley (toe)
S Tyler Sash (ankle and suspended first 4 games)
Depending on who can play when, the Giants might have to keep some injured players on the roster and some extra backups that might not have otherwise made the team. This might end up exposing some players to the practice squad that the Giants would rather have protected on the 53 man roster. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out but it might be a problem.
