Giants snag backup QB and a return man

      Saturday, September 4th, 2010

QB Sage Rosenfels and RB/WR (really a special teams guy) Darius Reynaud. The return man has me a bit more excited than the backup QB even though there is some risk with him. We give up a 5th next year and a conditional in 2012. Here it is from the Vikings’ perspective.

We need a return man, no doubt. And the averages look OK: He averaged 10.3 yards on 30 punt returns last season. He averaged 22.5 yards on four kick returns. But I believe he also had 3 fumbles so hopefully TC can do something to correct that…

Nice game vs Pat except for one little thing

      Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Why can’t we cover on special teams? I haven’t seen every team in the preseason or anything but it’s hard to imagine too many teams being worse than the Giants on special teams coverage.

With the negatives out of the way, gotta like what the offense did this week compared to last. Shawn Andrews continues to look like he will be a big contributor – nice to see a guy overcome some things and come back strong.

On defense, you’d really like to see backs and tight ends get covered once in a while. And you’d like some 3rd down stops. Hopefully Canty and C. Webster are ready to go next week and that gives us a nice boost. We could sure use something on defense.

      Watch Beatty tonight

      Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

First, I’m not sure where he’ll be playing but this article says he’s fighting for a starting job. I don’t see him winning the left tackle spot over Diehl and I don’t see him beating out McKenzie on the right so I’m not so sure about that. But it will be interesting to see what happens to him and his play tonight will certainly give us a clue.
