Defensive line snaps
Interesting breakdown by Tom Rock of how many snaps each Giants defensive lineman played. Sure looks like a very solid rotation.
We talk about New York Giants football here. I'll criticize and praise, talk about players and coaches, link to newspapers, etc. You can leave comments.

This was nice. The Redskins defense, which should be very good this season, didn’t give our offense too much trouble. Seubert, man I really want a jersey with this dude’s name on it, did nice work against Albert Haynesworth. We couldn’t run up the middle but that’s OK – We knew they would be gunning to stop the run. We had some nice plays there and they couldn’t make us give up the on the run.
Eli saw some pressure but mostly when the Redskins had extra rushers. Passing game looked real solid. It looks like Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, and Domenik Hixon will be good enough. Eli put up nice numbers: 20-29, 256 Yds, 1 TD, 1 Int. Keep in mind the 1 interception was a great play by Landry too.
Our defense looked great. Washington scored TDs on a fake field goal and then on a real play when the game was almost over. Osi seems to be coming back huge. Our depleted secondary was fine. Corey Webster = great: shut down Moss and kicked his butt. Coughlin gave Bruce Johnson some deserved props.
There were of course a couple of bad moments – the Ware elbow injury and the Nicks foot injury. Nicks is expected to miss 2-3 weeks (but they haven’t done an MRI yet so no one knows for sure).
Ware was our primary kickoff returner. Nicks replaced him. We could be getting a little thin there…
Let’s kick some Redskin butt. I’d like to see us run it right over them but I know that’s unlikely – The Redskins have Haynesworth and will probably put 8 in the box. I’m happy to settle for an accurate Eli Manning.
And we need our defense to crush what should be a weak Redskins offense.
You might expect an ordinary guy blogging (like me) to be unprofessional, but you don’t expect it from the “professionals” who write on teams’ official websites.
Yet here on Redskins.com we have a direct attack on the Giants wide receivers. Sadly this group no longer includes David Tyree – our Superbowl hero was cut today and is looking for a new team.
The tools over at Redskins.com seem to forget that after losing Plax last season we went to their stadium and kicked the shit out of them. Here’s hoping we give them another pounding in week 1…
A few months ago we were wondering if the Giants would carry 4 DTs on their 53 man roster. Not really wondering but saying that they had to take 5 on the 53 man roster: Robbins, Cofield, Canty, Bernard, and Alford. There were too many good players there.
It’s fortunate that the Giants were overstocked – unfortunate that things turned out this way. Get well Jay!
Instead of talking about the Giants roster moves, I decided to say something about Toomer instead. He was just cut and I like Toomer and thought he could still play at the end of last season. The problem is that teams like the Chiefs have young guys that they hope can develop so it doesn’t make sense to keep a guy like Toomer who may not be better than the younger guys at this point in his career and obviously won’t develop.
Now if Toomer can play at a reasonable level and get paid, more power to him. But I hope he at least considers retiring a Giant now so we don’t have to see him in another uniform.
