Relive the Super Bowl

Friday, February 29th, 2008

This one came out on Feb 15th so you may have seen it already. I just saw it though and thought I’d pass it along. If you offend easily, be warned that there is some bad language and some disparaging remark’s about Belechik’s weenie size.

No news is good news?

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Nothing too exciting, Coughlin is signed but that’s no surprise. Butler is tendered and Wilson will probably leave via free agency and while we did win a Super Bowl with those guys I think we will all agree that an upgrade at safety would be nice.

It is nice to know that Tyree is trying to be a good role model for kids.

Safety in round 1?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

This mock draft is interesting:

31. Giants – S Reggie Smith 6’0 200 4.5 Oklahoma
I still cannot believe they beat the Patriots, anyways, they need help at safety. Wilson is a free agent and James Butler got beat like a red-headed step-child last year. Smith has great cover skills but may lack speed to play corner in the NFL. He would make a heck of a cover safety though.

The mock has all 7 rounds… A punter in round 4…

Interview with Giants GM Jerry Reese

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Here’s a video of an interview with Jerry Reese. He is pretty good at avoiding certain questions but did say some interesting things about drafting for value and need, wanting Shockey back as starting TE, and being close to signing Coughlin.

Coughlin is looking at 5 million a year.

2006 and 2007 draft classes big part of Giants Super Bowl win

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

As some of us begin reading mock drafts for 2008, this article talks about the last 2 drafts and how the rookies drafted in 2007 had a larger than expected impact.

Consider this crop: CB Aaron Ross (first round); WR Steve Smith (2); DT and long snapper Jay Alford (3); TE Kevin Boss (5); S Michael Johnson and RB Ahmad Bradshaw (7). At the same time, they signed only one free agent of note, LB Kawika Mitchell — for just a year — to fill an immediate need at the position.

Matt Walsh seeking full protection

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Matt Walsh is willng to sell out his former employer as long as he doesn’t get in trouble. I don’t mean that in a bad way. I hope that all the information comes out. Cheating is bad for the NFL. Then again so is its officiating and they don’t do much about that…

Gotta love the NFC East

Friday, February 15th, 2008

This article made me laugh because one politicain, an Eagles fan, wouldn’t congratulate the Giants:

Murphy, a diehard Eagles fan who worked at Veterans Stadium as a security guard when he was 16, was the only House member to vote against it.

“As a former 700-level security guard and lifelong Eagles fan, I couldn’t, in good conscience, vote for the New York Giants,” Murphy said Thursday. “The only thing worse would have been a resolution honoring the Dallas Cowboys.”

Good – if the Eagles ever win anything (doubtful) I sure won’t be congratulating them.

Peter Giunta talks about stopping the Pats offense

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Peter Giunta shares a lot with Bill Burt in this very interesting read on game planning for the Pats. Defensive coaches obviously did an awesome job!

Antonio Pierce and Corey Webster get special mentions as well. Along with Justin Tuck and the rest of the Giants defensive line, they were our pro bowlers (even though we didn’t have many pro bowlers)…

Tuck signed through 2013

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

This article has some details on Justin Tuck’s contract extension. Seems to me that the Giants got a bargain.

Defense really does win championships

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Here is a great look by a Pats fan of their offensive line breakdowns or our successful pass rush depending on how you look at it.

Especially hurtful to the Pats fans seems to have been Justin Tuck eating up Logan Mankins.
