Tiki Barber’s classless move tarnishing the memory of Giants greatest running back
Giants fans should be talking about Tiki’s retirement by remembering how he led us past the Chiefs or the Redskins. Instead we’re talking about his mouth, which might be a little too big for his own good:
When Coughlin took over in 2004, Barber had three 1,000-yard seasons in seven years. His best rushing total was 1,387 yards. In his three seasons playing for Coughlin, he rushed for 1,518 yards, 1,860 yards and 1,662 yards. He also was transformed from a fumbler into a guy who never fumbled. For that, Barber ripped the coach last week. Talk about classless.
Tom Coughlin is a much better man than Tiki Barber, who just might be one of the biggest fakes in all of sports.

I don’t agree with that. It is a fair statement that Coughlin and his his staff have been outcoached in the big games. It was his job to get the team on the same page as the coaches and he has failed at that. What’s more all that salary cap room they have isn’t going to help the Giants if the best free agents don’t want to play for him. Tiki ran for all those yards and proved his worth by his performance. Coughlin has yet to do that.

If Coughlin was fired, as he deserved to be, Tiki might be back. Yes, this coaching staff helped him, but they are out of touch with the players and it likely cost the team another year of a pro bowl running back. Thanks, Tom.

Right on Jim! Great comments about Talky Tiki.
Sick of the “Drive by Press” cannonizing him while burying TC. He’s sooo honest he just has to speak his mind when asked, and sometimes when he isn’t. Matt Lauter and the rest of the crew at NBC shoule be nervouse when Tiki starts commenting about his colleagues there. Regards, E

Bull crap. Total bull crap. I have read, and reread every last word, within context, Tiki has uttered before the press that supposedly earns Tiki all this hate and resentment. This is being blown way out of proportion by those who benefit from making a big deal out of it — those very same class of reporters who stuffed a mike in Tiki’s face and asked the questions, expecting honest answers. Now they’re kicking Tiki in the nads for it and calling him every name in the book. Ask Tiki why he left football at the height of his career, and he’ll tell you the truth — it wasn’t fun anymore, and Coughlin had something to do with it. Oh, Tiki, you bastard! How dare you! How dare you even after you retired and signed on with NBC! You must never, ever tell us what you really think… tell us what we want to hear, because you know we all just think the world of Coughlin, and want him to stay in New York forever!

This Tiki vs Tom contrived verbal war you people in the media are very apparently working hard to escalate isn’t getting the traction you’re looking for, so move on. Tiki should have said “no comment” in place of saying what’s on his mind when he was on the team. Then, after he retired, he’s free to answer media questions as openly and honestly as he likes. Well, news flash, not only is he retired, he’s working for NBC and paid to comment! So he’s commenting, and this is news? I don’t hear anybody working hard to build this war of words contending Tiki’s lying, or making things up, or that Coughlin’s this ideal coach who all the players love and would walk through fire for, so Tiki needs to take a piss test. Tiki’s telling the truth, and it fits with what everyone knows about Coughlin from multiple sources and our own observations of him at press conferences and on the sidelines. Tiki’s paid to talk now, and he’s talking. The media corners Coughlin, presses for a statement, and he gives some “I don’t know where this came from” and the media prints “TOM FIRES BACK!” Do us all a favor and go do some research on the draft and FA, because this belongs in the same news bin as more Anna Nicole Smith news.

Wow… so here we are. Giants fans. Buying into lines such as Tiki being “one of the biggest fakes in all of sports.” That bastard Tiki. We always hated that guy, and we always loved Coughlin. Right? Reporters work hard to get Tiki to honestly answer questions like why he decided to leave football as one of the top 5 backs in the NFL, and he says his coach’s actions had a lot to do with his thinking about the next chapter, and we Giants fans are now supposed to be inspired by reporters to hate him for being honest. It was a trick question… they’re all trick questions… the answers to all questions should be “no comment.” That’s all Tiki had to do. Say “no comment” and keep his real motives and thoughts inside, because we really don’t want to hear them, not when they’re at the expense of our beloved hero of a coach Tom Coughlin! We’d all be sending letters to Mara demanding a statue of Tiki in the Meadowlands if Tiki just said, and continued to say “no comment” after NBC hired him to make comments. That Tiki… Coughlin’s a much better man. Sure. I’m on board with that.

Tiki is the biggest cry baby in a running back uniform, he should kiss Tom Coughlin’s feet for turning him into a decent running back. All the good memories we had of him was wipe off last season for running out on his team. He doesn’t want to get hit anymore, it hurst. Oh poor baby
