    • Articles on Eli and his receivers – passing more in 2007-2008?

We have a good article on Eli that gives us a fair assessment (he’s not the franchise QB we were hoping he was) and has some interesting quotes from Eli on playing in New York.

The Giants.com OTA report on receivers starts off with something absolutely sickening – the idea that we should throw the ball more. Haven’t we Giants fans been having a hard enough time? We’ve got Droughns and Jacobs plus a good offensive line – let’s run more than we throw from now on, ok?

I know, I know. Without Tiki, the running game is a question mark. Well so is Eli’s accuracy and if there’s one thing we know it’s that the Giants like to start passing when running is working well and leading us to a win. Now I love my team, but sometimes abandoning the run made me sick last season. Can we please not talk about passing more? Less would be OK.

The only undefeated team in NFL history did it with two 1000 yard rushers, Czonka and Kiick. It can be argued that Peyton can set up the run with his passing, but without the improvement they realized in their running game last year they might have come up short one more time.

The year Pittsburgh won, They did it with team defense, great running, and a mighty small passing attack. The same could be said for Phillip Rivers success.

A lot of team success depends on the coach using the talent he has to it’s greatest potential. I think Coughlin has failed in that regard. There is that nagging feeling that another coach might have done more with the talent we have. The Giants have overcome injuries and adversity before….don’t forget in our last Super Bowl victory we had to use our backup quarterback to win.

I’m so tired of the Eli bashing. He is a frachise QB. Over the last two years, he leads the NFC in TD’s and we’ve been to the playoffs twice. Do you want stats or wins? He has ‘em both.

If you want consistency, you’re gonna have to wait until Burress plays a whole game, the players shut their mouths about each other, we don’t lose 6 guys at the same position, and we don’t pass every down of the second half with a lead and a shoddy D.

It’s not rocket science. As of now, Eli and our WR’s are probably our best playmakers. I don’t mind coming out aggressive, as long as we understand that to win, you get a lead in the 1st half and run in the second half. I think we’ll be fine as long as we do that.

And Eli should have beaten Vick to the pro-bowl in his 1st year as a starter, just like Phillip (OVERRATED) Rivers. I live in SD, and I can’t stand that guy. He and big ben both had outstanding seasons when they had the most dominant D in the league and threw under 20 times/game. What a joke.

        Stop hating on ELI!

James kostyk…You are dead on about Simms. Talk about a late bloomer. There was a big question about his durability because early on he got hurt a lot plus he got sacked way too often because he couldn’t move an inch to avoid the defensive rush.
Yeah he heard plenty of boos. And the Giants weren’t all that consistant either, though in 1986 they steamfolled a lot of good teams.

Terry Bradshaw once said that to make the perfect quarterback he would take the head of Joe Montana, the legs of Randall Cunningham, and the heart of Phil Simms. I think that pretty much says it all.

Go Eli! I know you can do it!
