      Should the Giants sign Rhodes?

      Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

Bob Glauber says that Rhodes is the best option right now. He makes a convincing case that Jamal Lewis isn’t an option; he and Ahman Green seem too worn to me.

The argument that Mcahee is not a fit because he wants to start seems weird. It also seems weird that Rhodes wants to be a backup. I mean don’t you want guys who are so competitive that they want the ball all the time?

But Glauber has an advantage. He has met Rhodes and says his personality is perfect for the Giants. What do you think? Is Rhodes right for the Giants?

      Giants & free agency

      Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

Mike Garafolo says to keep an eye on Leonard Davis, who could possibly play left tackle or left guard, and Ike Reese, who is an older backup linebacker and special teams player.

Arthur Staple also mentions Davis and adds Joey Porter to the list of linebackers to keep an eye on.

The Redskins and Cowboys are also interested in Leonard Davis. The Redskins did well to sign London Fletcher. The 49ers are rebuilding their secondary the way the Giants wish they could with cornerback Nate Clements (8 years at 80 million). The way the salary cap is going up, that’s not too much.

Giants sign O’Hara but won’t sign Feeley

      Friday, March 2nd, 2007

I think the giants are doing the smart thing by signing O’Hara and not signing Feeley. You wonder who’s going to replace Feeley. Right now the Giants have only Josh Huston.

You also wonder who can replace Luke Petigout. the article i linked to above says Coughlin was “steadfastly against” cutting Luke. Can Diehl handle left tackle when he had some trouble at right tackle (back in 2004)? Cardinals left tackle Leonard Davis could be targeted here.

Also the Giants are bringing in former Colt Dominic Rhodes. If Rhodes can still return punts the Giants need him. He returned a punt for a TD in 2001 as a rookie vs. the Chiefs but I’m not sure he still has it in him. The Colts don’t use him as a return man anymore and in 2005 he didn’t scare anyone with his returns…

Giants comings and goings in early 2007

      Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Here’s an article on Brandon Jacobs’ reaction to the death of Damien Nash. We all want to see what he can do even as we worry that Tiki Barber will prove impossible to replace. Here’s some speculation that the Giants will give up a 2nd day pick for Mcahee.

Ryan Keuhl will be back. Shaun O’Hara may not be. Jay Feeley may not be.
