    • The Giants front 7

Carlos Emmons say his injuries are just bad luck, not signs that he’s old or breaking down. We need another season out of him although Short wouldn’t be a huge problem at WLB. Blackburn might be and the Giants 3rd round pick Wilkerson is probably not nearly as ready as Emmons and Short to contribute now.

A Yahoo Sports article says the Giants will miss Clancy at DT. That’s looking to be a real possibility.

      1. Michael Says:

When if comes to injuries I tend to agree with Emmons that they are bad luck. Aside from that you always hear about every little twitch, pull and strain in preseason. During the regular season, many of these minor problems are things that players will play through. But with older players, like Emmons, the papers want to blow everything out of proportion, “he’s too old”, “he’s washed up”, etc. A lot of this is just fodder that makes for good copy. Anyone that has ever played sports at any level beyond little league knows from experience that when a season starts, you start using muscles in ways that you don’t the rest of the time, and you get a pull or a strain easily. It’s just the body’s way of reminding you that no amount of time in the gym can equal what you put out playing. Ask any recreational skier, how his/her hamstrings feel the day after that first time out on the slopes each season. As for bad luck, well you want really bad luck, talk to Clinton Portis.
